We are proud to have been involved in this recently announced acquisition.

Adelaide engineering firm Tonkin Consulting has acquired Sydney’s TLB Engineers.

From the press release:

ADELAIDE engineering firm Tonkin Consulting has boosted its national footprint with the acquisition of Sydney’s TLB Engineers.

Tonkin’s foray into the NSW market forms part of the company’s national growth strategy, with offices in regional South Australia, Darwin, Brisbane and Mildura.

TLB’s 15 employees will join Tonkin’s growing network as part of the tie-up, increasing the Adelaide company’s workforce to close to 140 engineers, scientists and technical officers across the country.

Chief executive Gerry Doyle said TLB’s specialisations in structural and maritime engineering complemented Tonkin’s work in infrastructure, environmental, asset management and engineering services.

“This is an exciting opportunity to grow our business within the largest market in Australia … and represents an important step in the growth of our business into other states,” he said.

“TLB is a proven business with a reputation for technical excellence and service delivery, with leading professional staff.

“We look forward to further developing our relationships with TLB’s clients, while continuing to be involved in projects that provide benefits to the community.”

TLB director Mark Baker said the deal would allow the Sydney office to extend its specialist service offering to new markets outside of NSW.

“We are excited by the opportunity to join with Tonkin Consulting to offer a far greater range of services to the market and provide these services across a wider geographical area,” he said.

Tonkin was last year awarded national medium firm of the year by industry group Consult Australia.
